Hi John,
Before I ever thought about running for Congress, I was a teacher and a basketball coach. I still am, in a lot of ways. I know what it means to fight for our kids.
And what I see right now makes me angry. Instead of doing the real work to keep our students safe and help them thrive, too many politicians are focused on culture wars and censorship. They’re banning books, rewriting history, and ignoring the issues that matter most to families.
We also have to be honest about what’s happening in our country. Kids today are more afraid of gun violence than anything else. That’s not just heartbreaking, it’s unacceptable.
As someone who spent years in public education, I know the power of honesty, inclusion, and high expectations. That’s what our kids need. They don’t need politicians using our children to advance their partisan goals. Schools are not the bully pulpit.
That’s why I’m running for Congress. Because our kids deserve better. Our teachers deserve better. And this country deserves leaders who put students and families before political agendas.
