Dear John,

I had a busy week in Washington and I want to tell you all about it.

$25 Million for Central Ohio:

This week, I was thrilled to announce that I helped secure a $25 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation to support a project that will replace two bridges along Alum Creek Drive and widen the road to reduce the traffic burden connecting State Route 317 and Groveport Road. This is great news, and I can’t wait for the project to get started. Read more here or by clicking on the image below.

Legislative Update:

This week, I was proud to attend the White House bill signing of the bipartisan HALT Fentanyl Act. This law will crack down on illicit fentanyl and fentanyl-related substances from making it into American communities and threatening the lives of American citizens. Too many Ohioans and their loved ones have been devastated by the opioid epidemic, especially the scourge of deadly fentanyl. By signing this law today, we mark a turning point in keeping fentanyl out of our communities and honor those we’ve needlessly lost.

Also this week, I reintroduced my bipartisan Patient Access to Innovative New Technologies (PAINT) Act with my colleague, Danny K. Davis (D-Ill.). Our legislation makes it easier for Medicare recipients to take advantage of the newest treatments without bureaucratic delay. This bipartisan bill would result in better health outcomes for our seniors and would help the system deliver care more efficiently and in line with its mission. I ask all my colleagues to join us in support of this commonsense legislation.

Social Media Update:

Crypto in Congress:

This week was crypto week in Congress, and we passed three pro-cryptocurrency bills through the House of Representatives, including the Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for U.S. Stablecoins (GENIUS) Act, Digital Asset Market Clarity (CLARITY) Act, and the Anti-CBDC Surveillance State Act. Every year, more Americans are adding digital assets to their portfolios and more businesses are preparing to innovate with cryptocurrency, and we are creating an environment for crypto to grow and thrive. On Wednesday in the Ways and Means Committee, we held a hearing on how we can set crypto up for a future of success in America. You can watch my questions for our expert witnesses by clicking here or on the image below.

Better Deals for American Patients:

This week, I joined a group of 33 lawmakers in a letter to U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) Jamieson Greer, urging further action to address foreign policy measures that force the American health care system to bear the burden of subsidizing pharmaceutical research and development (R&D) used across the world. The letter applauds the USTR’s recent Request for Comments Regarding Foreign Nations Freeloading on American-Financed Innovation, emphasizes the importance of global trading partners appropriately valuing U.S. medical innovation, and calls for an end to the practice of shifting R&D costs onto Americans.
