While Texas communities reel from flash floods and search for missing loved ones, Trump is actively working to destroy the very agency that delivers billions of dollars in assistance to communities devastated by natural disasters.

Trump's plan to eliminate FEMA is following a predictable playbook: First, sabotage the agency, then argue it's beyond repair. Here's the damage Trump and his DHS Secretary Kristi Noem have already done to gut FEMA:

❌ They fired nearly a quarter of FEMA's full-time staff

❌ They made it impossible for FEMA to act quickly by requiring Noem's personal sign-off on spending over $100,000, contributing to slower response times during the Texas disaster

❌ They allowed thousands of call center workers to be laid off after the flood, ensuring desperate calls for help went unanswered

❌ And they installed an acting director who has been notably absent from disaster response efforts

This couldn't be more reckless: Trump wants to eliminate FEMA just as climate disasters are becoming deadlier and more frequent. Despite the fact that 8 in 10 Americans support federal disaster relief, Trump would rather leave families to fend for themselves than provide the assistance that saves lives.
