Every day, the 2020 election gets a little bit closer. Right now, we're all focusing hard on defeating President Trump. Don't get me wrong-- that's important.

The truth is, we aren't just fighting Donald Trump this year. We're fighting to reverse every single one of his deeply offensive, deeply cruel policies. We're fighting for the chance to overhaul our nation's immigration programs, to fix our health care system so that it works for ordinary Americans, to clean up and protect our environment.

In order to get those things done, we're going to need to take back the White House. But we're also going to need to hang on to Democratic control in the House of Representatives, and to flip the U.S. Senate blue.

Don't think that President Trump doesn't know that. He's blanketing battleground Senate seats with his campaign offices-- including the Minnesota seat held by my friend, Senator Tina Smith. He has already said that he's targeting Minnesota in 2020. This is serious.

Senator Smith won her seat in a special election in 2018 and she will have to run again to keep it in 2020. She's the only Democratic Senator that will have to run back-to-back elections.

She's been doing a heck of a job for Minnesotans already. She's fighting alongside me and my colleagues to ensure that every American has access to high-quality, affordable health care-- and to lower prescription drug prices. She knows how to work across the aisle to get things done for her constituents. Right now, she's leading a bipartisan effort to reduce the cost of insulin products so that no patient ever has to ration their life-saving insulin.

We need to keep Tina in the Senate so that she can finish what she started. Can you rush in $5 to help her today?

Senator Smith is committed to ensuring that our children, grandchildren and all future generations will have a healthy planet to call home, clean air to breathe and safe water to drink. Earlier this month, she introduced a bill that will require public companies to disclose their impact on our environment, including the amount of global warming pollution they emit.

Tina knows that there are so many commonsense steps we need to take now to begin addressing the climate crisis. I was proud to join her legislation, and can't wait to see what she does next.
