Dear Friend,

I hope you had a good week. This Tuesday, I got to hear from those of you who joined our Telephone Town Hall. Thank you for joining our discussion on Trump's Big Ugly Bill, the devastating floods in Central Texas, and Gov. Abbott's Congressional redistricting efforts.

As your elected Member of Congress, it is an honor to fight to make your voice heard and share these updates with you.

As always, if I can be of any assistance to you, please call my office in San Antonio at (210) 348-8216 or my office in Washington at (202) 225-3236.

The Administration's Reckless Actions

This week, news broke out that we are starting to see the effects of Trump's tariffs. Hard working families could pay $2,800 more a year in rising costs. Texans can't afford more reckless trade "deals."

This report comes after Trump imposed a tomato tax that will make life for hard working families more expensive. The administration promised to make life better for Americans and they are failing at every turn.

Trump is also firing more than a thousand folks at the State Department. These are committed U.S. diplomats who represent the U.S. and advance our nation's values. These folks have worked hard and dedicated their lives to our country. This is just one of the reckless and shortsighted moves that will diminish and hurt our standing on the world stage.

Republicans Cut Funding for Public Broadcasting

Last night, Republicans passed $1 billion in cuts to public broadcasting, including NPR and PBS.

Folks rely on public media for reliable news and educational programming. Over the years, public television has helped tell stories that are often forgotten or ignored. It has showcased Latino talent and has helped to tell the Latino story.

Thank you to everyone who stood up against these cuts. Watch my Instagram Live for a full update.
