Dear Democrats,
Team DPNM and New Mexico Democrats have been up to a lot this summer! Alongside local Democrats in the communities across our vast state, we've been strengthening the party infrastructure that it will take to keep New Mexico blue in upcoming elections. In some cases, we've been building local Democratic Parties from the ground up. You deserve to know just some of what’s been keeping us busy on the ground. First, an update from our officers:
Officer Update Still early in her term, Chair Attleson has been driving across New Mexico, traveling thousands of miles to meet with Democrats organizing in their communities and helping build and strengthen party infrastructure across the state. |
Vice Chair Cam Crawford has also been traveling across New Mexico, hosting townhalls, and actively building up local Democratic Party chapters. Not only that, Vice Chair Crawford organized the first of Team DPNM’s Giving Back Community Service Days (more on that later in this update).
Message from the Vice Chair:
"Since the disaster took office in January, our party has been faced with a choice: get busy living or get busy dying. My campaign is over, but I haven’t stopped traveling New Mexico to get Democrats excited and turning anger and anxiety into action. I’ve held towns every month to keep members of our party in the loop. I’ve showed up in places where it is uncomfortable to be a democrat. And I’ve taken our party out of the fundraising booth and put us back into the community to show people that Democrats are about improving people’s lives by volunteering at local food banks.
"Winning the 2026 elections is mission critical. And I look forward to continuing to show up all over the state, educating voters, and promoting a message of solidarity with working families. Ultimately, we need to show people that we share their concerns and that we will do something. That’s what I intend to keep doing over the balance of my term." - Cam Crawford |
DPNM Secretary Brenda Hoskie has been busy representing the Party across Western NM. |
Message from the Treasurer:
"Hello Democrats! I’m excited to introduce myself and share a bit about what I’ve been working on. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been meeting with our compliance team, digging into the budget details, and collaborating closely with past Treasurer Rayellen Smith, whose guidance has been invaluable as I get up to speed. Now that our committees are in place, I’m preparing to meet with the Budget and Finance Committee in the coming weeks to ensure we’re on a successful path ahead.
"I’m also committed to keeping communication and training accessible across our party. I plan to continue offering Zoom trainings for our county party treasurers, chairs, and vice-chairs to support everyone in their roles. Additionally, I’m looking forward to traveling around the state and meeting with our county parties in person. It’s important to me to hear directly from you, understand your priorities, and work together to keep building a strong and vibrant Democratic Party in New Mexico." -Caroline Zamora
In the News
Trump really, really wants you to completely forget about Epstein. Why is that we wonder?? Trump’s defensive attitude on the Epstein files and his administration’s suspicious refusal to release them as his handpicked political appointees rush to close the case is making even some MAGA die-hards wonder what is going on. As Congressional Republicans block efforts to release the Epstein file this week, Trump has turned releasing them into a bizarre loyalty test, and sadly, Republicans are falling in line to protect Trump. Democrats support releasing the Epstein files, and Republicans did on the campaign trail, what changed? |
We couldn’t be more proud of all five of New Mexico’s federal Senators and Representatives who tirelessly fought in opposition, and even managed to secure RECA funding to support Downwinders and New Mexicans who have been exposed to toxic radiation in the bill. We’re also fortunate that in New Mexico, we have a Democratic Governor and state legislators who are committed to finding ways to mitigate the bill’s many harmful impacts.
Recently, Democrats launched TrumpTax.com, a new website that gives a state-by-state breakdown of the specifics of how GOP and Trump policies sell out the working class to enrich billionaires. Donald Trump promised he wouldn’t touch Medicaid and would lower prices on “day one.” True to character, he lied on both accounts. It's up to Democrats to continue reminding voters how much GOP policies are screwing over working class families.
From TrumpTax.com: -
Nearly 112,000 New Mexicans will lose health insurance.
- 55,000 New Mexicans are at risk of losing food assistance.
- Nearly 26,000 New Mexicans could lose their job.
-
The median household in New Mexico will lose $750 from the Trump Tax alone. Combined with Trump’s reckless tariff agenda, the median household will lose nearly $1,700 annually.
- 15 rural hospitals in New Mexico are at risk of closing.
-
New Mexicans’ electricity bills will rise by 24%.
-
Trump’s reckless tariffs have already cost New Mexico businesses $81.5 million.
County Party Highlights Check out just some of what a few of our county parties have been up to! |
Team DPNM highlight
Team DPNM and a handful of supporters volunteered at Roadrunner Food Bank and were assigned to peel red onions. After everyone wiped away tears, Roadrunner staff gave Team DPNM a presentation on how badly Trump’s “Big Betrayal Bill” will hurt food assistance programs in New Mexico. |
Chair Attleson, Isaiah, and Sonja from Team DPNM spoke to the Emerge NM 2025 class about voter data management and DPNM internal party structure. Thanks to Emerge NM for the opportunity! |
*Please note: the DPNM Update is a snapshot of just some of what NM Democrats have been up to lately. It will not include everything that Democrats are doing across New Mexico and does not advertise upcoming events. Please check with your County Party Chair for more information on Democratic activities near you. |
