Make sure to book your place now for one of the highlights of your CPD calendar, the Annual JUSTICE Human Rights Conference. Given the restrictions imposed by COVID-19, we have decided to move this year’s conference online.

The Conference will be held over four evenings – Monday 6 July to Thursday 9 July. It will be opened at 5pm on Monday 6 July by Professor Philip Alston, speaking about the human rights impact of the pandemic. He will be followed by Caoilfhionn Gallagher QC with a Review of the Year. The conference will close on Thursday 6 July, with a ‘Fireside Chat’ from Sandie Okoro, General Counsel and Senior Vice-President of the World Bank, followed by a political panel including Professor Conor Gearty, Tom Tugendhat MP, Chair of the Foreign Affairs Select Committee, and Joanna Cherry QC, SNP Spokesperson on Justice and Home Affairs.
We will hold three ‘break out’ panels simultaneously from 5-7pm on Tuesday 7th and Wednesday 8th. While you will only be able to attend one ‘live’, we will record them all, allowing you to watch the others at your leisure at a later date. This year our panels will explore: Judicial Review, Crime, Inquests and Inquiries, Climate Change, Family, and Immigration and Asylum.
Each will provide an invaluable update on developments in respect of human rights. The panels comprise of leading lawyers in the field, expertly chaired by renown jurists. A number of our panels will include speakers from devolved jurisdictions and an international aspect, while still providing a comprehensive review on UK cases. You can view the full programme here <[link removed]>.

You will be able to stream the conference from anywhere in the world and it will provide the perfect opportunity to catch up on human rights developments in the UK courts over the last year.
Given the short time frame, we have asked panellists to prepare PowerPoints and/or case lists, rather than long papers. But given that the sessions will be recorded you will be able to watch and re-watch your favourite bits over and over.

Bookings

Tickets are £100 for JUSTICE members and £150 for non-members and you can book your place here <[link removed]>. As we have a limited number of places make sure to book on now to avoid missing out.

We are super excited about the conference – for the new format at a more affordable price point, but also because we could not have wished for such an amazing line up. I very much hope that you will join us.

Warmest wishes,

Andrea Coomber
