Here are some other highlights from DFP this week:
They’re turning Sesame Street into a six-lane highway :(
Look, we all know that Trump (and probably a lot of his MAGA buddies) spent very little time actually raising his children. But for the rest of us who have a heart and soul, we’re intimately familiar with the sound of Elmo, Big Bird, and the Count — whether they taught us the alphabet or taught us how to distract our kids while we down our morning coffee.
Unfortunately, Congress passed a “rescissions package” this week that includes major cuts to NPR and PBS, as well as cuts to global health programs and development assistance for poorer countries. You know, just popular and important programs that educate our children and save lives.
We find that less than 30% of voters want cuts to these programs — and that includes less than half of Republicans.

Maybe we can all buy an NPR tote bag? Agree to pretend that Bert and Ernie are just “roommates”? Organize all the muppets to unionize? Just a few thoughts on how we could save public broadcasting.

Okay so there’s some education that needs to be done, I can see that.
You know that big budget bill Republicans just passed? The one that they keep bragging will cause people to lose healthcare through so-called “work requirements”? It turns out that only about half of voters can identify that the law will even cause people to lose health care. Awesome!
According to estimates from the Congressional Budget Office, 16 million Americans are set to lose health insurance as a result of the bill’s deep cuts to Medicaid, as well as other changes to the Affordable Care Act marketplace.
While a majority of voters (53%) say the bill will cause Americans to lose health insurance coverage, only 38% think that more than 10 million Americans will lose coverage.

Additionally, about half of voters say the bill will raise the deficit — which the bill is projected to increase by about $3 trillion.
What would y’all spend with $3 trillion? We could buy a whole lot of 24k gold labubus for that price… and that would still be a better use of money than kicking people off of their health care to pay for tax cuts for the rich.
