Dear Neighbor,
For months, the Trump Administration has blatantly and repeatedly violated the law to steal American taxpayer dollars by depriving communities of the promised investments they deserve. They’ve blocked the distributions of billions in funding for education, essential health services, public safety, and more.
Now, they are going even further, using an obscure legislative process to claw back nearly $9 billion in funding that has already been approved by Congress with bipartisan support and signed into law!
Let’s break it down:
When Congress passes a law to spend money – say on PBS, global health, or rural radio – that money must be spent. It’s not optional. It’s the law. Now Trump wants to take that money back through a legislative process called a rescission that cancels funds that Congress previously approved.
Republicans are backing Trump and cutting programs that help working people and rural communities – just to pay for tax breaks for billionaires. The bill that Congress passed this week rubberstamps damage already done by Trump and Elon Musk’s DOGE team, including cuts to science and emergency alerts right before hurricane season. They’re also trying to shut down PBS and NPR. That means no weather alerts, no local news, no Carl the Collector. Just silence.
I voted HELL NO on this scam. This isn’t just about money – it’s about whether Congress keeps its power or hands it to a wannabe king.
Release the Files!
Remember when Trump shouted from the rooftops about the Epstein files? He said the American people deserved the truth. But now that Republicans are in charge, they’re doing everything they can to bury it. We were told it would blow the lid off a global conspiracy. Trump’s administration teased major revelations—then reversed course and declared the whole thing a “hoax.”
It smells like a cover-up.
House Democrats are calling on the Judiciary Chair to subpoena the Epstein files—all of them—and hold public hearings. We’re also using legislative tools to get to the bottom of the investigation and to find out who knew what and when.
If Republicans are going to exploit a conspiracy for political gain, they don’t get to hide the truth when it might hurt them.
