Friend — The Trump administration just opened the door to drilling across 13 million acres of the Western Arctic, and we only have a narrow window to speak up.

The Western Arctic is our country’s largest expanse of public land. It is made up of remote tundra, wetlands, and coastline that supports caribou, polar bears, and countless species of migratory birds. Iñupiat and Gwich'in communities have hunted, fished, and stewarded the land for ages.

Now, the Trump administration is seeking to undo protections put in place to safeguard the fish, wildlife, and resources that many communities — including Alaska Natives — subsist on, and expand Big Oil’s presence in the region. The proposal would cover the landscape with drill pads, oil rigs, and pipelines and forever damage this unique ecosystem.
