Dear john,

Last week, I shared the news of my efforts to demand the Trump Administration's Department of Education release $7 billion in illegally withheld funding that my Congressional colleagues and I have already approved for school programs, teacher training, and adult education. As Congress returned to Washington this week, I kept up the pressure. In addition to delivering remarks on the House floor to raise awareness about this issue, I also spoke with 11Alive's Cheryl Preheim about what I'm doing in Congress to continue fighting for our community. You can watch our conversation below:

This week, I also delivered remarks regarding the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in solving and detecting crime. As the ranking member of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime, I uplifted bipartisan concerns from elected officials across the country regarding attempts to ban the regulation of AI. This week marked five years since the passing of our dear friend and former colleague, Congressman John Lewis. His voice and his leadership are sorely missed at this moment in our nation's history, but his words continue to inspire us and guide our response to the challenges we are facing. I reflected on his words in his final letter to the American people, in which he wrote, "Ordinary people with extraordinary vision can redeem the soul of America."

My Mobile Office Hours program continues to move throughout the district! Next week, my office will be at the Buckhead Branch Library in Fulton County. If you have any federal concerns, please sign up for an appointment to meet with my staff using this link. We look forward to assisting you!

Thank you for taking the time to read this update. It is my honor to serve our community in Congress. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please contact my office at (470) 773-6330 or visit mcbath.house.gov.
