Democrat,

I hope everyone is staying safe and taking care of each other in light of the devastating flash floods we saw in our state this week. If you’re looking for assistance, click here for state resources.

While New Jersey and many others are reeling from the aftermath, Trump is STILL pushing policies that make it harder for us to recover. His attacks on FEMA and other disaster relief programs weaken our preparedness, putting our families at even greater risk. This is the same president who spends his weekends in our state golfing at Bedminster, yet is against providing resources for disaster recovery.

Meanwhile, he’s doubling down on new tariffs that are driving up costs for New Jersey families. His reckless policies are hurting the economy, making life less affordable, and killing jobs. Yet, Jack Ciattarelli says there’s nothing he disagrees with the president on. That’s why we must elect Mikie Sherrill as our next governor. She has substantive plans to address the affordable crisis and won’t capitulate to Trump.

— Chairman LeRoy J. Jones, Jr.

Despite the blowback after previous rounds of tariffs, President Trump doubled down this week with more. Inflation is already up, with the prices of everyday necessities like electricity, clothing, gasoline, and household appliances increasing at a higher rate. Whether it’s eggs, coffee or beef, grocery bills are going up.

Trump promised to lower prices on day one but we’re seeing the exact opposite. Promises made, promises not kept.

Mikie Sherrill is taking action to address the affordability crisis that families in New Jersey face every day. While Trump’s policies keep driving up energy prices and enriching big oil and coal CEOs, Mikie is pushing for clean energy solutions that will lower costs and create good-paying jobs. She’s committed to reducing utility bills and investing in clean energy sources to make life more affordable for everyone, including seniors, small businesses, and working families.

As Mikie says, “This isn’t just about energy or economic policies. It’s about what kind of state we want to live in and what kind of future we want to leave our children. This is our chance to build a cleaner, more affordable, more resilient New Jersey.”

“We’ve got too many people that will luxuriate in that social safety net. It’s supposed to be a crutch, not a hammock.” -Jack Ciattarelli

That’s what the Republican nominee for governor had to say about vital programs like Medicaid that ensure New Jersey kids and seniors have access to healthcare. His flagrant disregard and belittlement of these programs demonstrate how cruel and out of touch his agenda is. He’s proudly campaigning on Trump’s budget that guts this program, and leaves our neighbors out to dry.

New Jersey’s Senator Andy Kim is still working hard and fighting against the recent Republican Price Hike Bill. This week, he has invited Tom Kean Jr. to a joint town hall in Westfield to hear concerns from residents on the federal budget. Kean’s response? To call this event a “stunt” as an excuse to cower in fear.

When Democrats choose to face the people they represent, Republicans would rather run away.

The clock is ticking and we are approaching November fast with less than 100 days until early voting starts! Head to our website and make a plan to vote by checking out our voter resources. This election is too important to sit out of.
