Donald Trump and his billionaire buddies in the fossil fuel industry are pushing our planet to the brink, John.
But if they think we're just going to sit by and let that happen, they couldn't be more wrong.
Today is 350's official Giving Day, and what we raise before our midnight deadline will determine whether we have the funds to fight back against Trump and the fossil fuel industry — or fall short.
I'm not going to sugarcoat it — recent developments in the U.S., and around the world, paint a pretty bleak picture for the future of our climate.
Trump is actively creating distractions and instability while passing laws that will let his billionaire buddies and the fossil fuel industry double down on their crimes against our communities and our planet.
But the last thing I want, John, is for you to read this email and come away from it feeling hopeless or discouraged. Because Trump and his buddies want us to lose hope and give up, so they can continue polluting our planet for profit. Because they want us to think that our fight for a livable planet is unwinnable. Because to them, we pose a real threat.
We have faced tough challenges before and overcome them. We have taken on seemingly unwinnable fights and won. And we CAN do it again.
So let's not give Trump and Big Oil what they want.
Let's use this moment to demand action.
Let's use this moment to maintain a livable climate.
Let's use this moment to achieve climate justice for all.
Are you with me?
Thank you for chipping in. Together, we can build a better, cleaner and more equitable world.
In solidarity,
Anne Jellema
