John,
A new proposal from Donald Trump’s Education Department threatens to
weaponize the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program —
historically a lifeline for public servants.
If enacted, PSLF would stop clearing loans for workers at nonprofits or
public entities that the administration deems engaged in so-called
"illegal activities" — a vague category that could include immigration
support, transgender youth care, diversity, equity, and inclusion
programs, and more.^1
Over 1 million borrowers — nurses, teachers, nonprofit employees, and
others — could lose access to debt relief simply because of their
employer’s mission.
This is more than policy. It’s a political vendetta. Trump is using his
power to target the very people who make our communities work.
The Squad Victory Fund was built to defend our democracy. Now is the time
to show the power of our movement and fight back. But we can’t do this
alone. This moment demands bold resistance — and the resources to power
it. That’s why we’re asking:
[ [link removed] ]Will you pitch in $3 — or whatever you can afford — to
help us stop Trump’s dangerous agenda and protect public service workers?
We cannot sit idly by while he tears down the progress we’ve fought so
hard to build.
