In spite of that fact, CBS claims the cancellation was “a financial decision.”
That might be true—but not in the way they’re saying publicly.
Here’s the likely financial reason: CBS’s parent company, Paramount, is desperate for federal approval of a multibillion-dollar merger with Skydance Media. And Donald Trump—now back in power—holds the keys.
Colbert, like 60 Minutes before him, is just the latest sacrificial lamb on Trump’s altar.
