We are a diverse people in America, but we do have some cultural traits in common. We like things done quickly.  We admire sports skills.  Presentable looks are a plus nearly everywhere, although the tattoo craze is challenging that. But perhaps most of all, Americans do not want to be bored.  Gone are fireside chats, sweet tea seminars on the porch, reading long biographical books.
