Cynthia Lummis - Senator for Wyoming

We Are Powering Up Wyoming's Energy Dominance

If the United States learned anything over the last four years, it’s that when we drive away American energy production, prices go up, national security is compromised, and we lose American jobs. The Cowboy State has always known a better way.

Wyoming energy doesn’t just power our homes—it fuels the entire nation. We produce 15 times more energy than we use, supplying electricity to American families, supporting next-generation data centers, and laying the foundation for the energy future. Under President Trump’s direction, we are witnessing the great American energy comeback, starting right here in Wyoming with the Ramaco Brook Mine opening in Sheridan.

Tucked away off Interstate 90, the Ramaco mine is the first new American rare earth mine in 70 years, and the first new coal mine in Wyoming in 50 years. Attending this event was not just monumental for American energy, it was a part of history. I was proud to stand alongside Governor Gordon, Senator Barrasso, and Representative Hageman as we joined Energy Secretary Chris Wright at the groundbreaking ceremony.

Wyoming has always led the nation on energy innovation, and the Cowboy State is more than capable of leading this charge in powering up our mines. Reigniting domestic energy production means lower prices for American families, stronger job creation, and a more secure national power grid. President Trump promised to unleash American energy, and Wyoming is ready and able to lead the way.

Happy Trails,

Senator Lummis' Week in Pictures

I had such a fabulous time celebrating the Fourth of July in Cody! The Cody Independence Day parades are always a highlight of my summer, and it fills me with joy to spend this time with so many patriotic people from across the Cowboy State. Click here to watch an Independence Day recap.

It was an honor to receive the Eagle Award from the Associated Builders and Contractors. Thanks for coming by, and I am always proud to support western friends in the construction industry!

I had a great meeting with Jonathan Morrison, President Trump’s nominee for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. He has a passion for American leadership on AVs, and I look forward to moving forward with the Autonomous Vehicle Acceleration Act. This is the first major AV legislation in eight years and keeps the United States in the driver's seat of innovation.

Legislative Actions

I joined Senator John Barrasso and Representative Hageman in introducing the Wyoming Education Trust Modernization Act. This legislation would amend Wyoming’s State Act of Admission to provide the state’s permanent school land fund with enhanced investment flexibility, potentially increasing annual returns for K-12 education. Wyoming’s school trust fund represents one of our state’s most valuable assets for supporting public education and the next generation of Cowboy students. My legislation would allow Wyoming to modernize our investment policies while maintaining the strong protections that have served this fund for more than a century. I believe we can do better for our kids by investing that money more strategically and increasing Wyoming’s returns. That result would mean millions of dollars more every year for Wyoming classrooms, without raising taxes or touching Wyoming’s principal.

I also introduced comprehensive digital asset tax legislation that secures key victories for the digital asset industry and creates a level playing field for digital asset users across the country. In order to maintain our competitive edge, we must change our tax code to embrace our digital economy, not burden digital asset users. This groundbreaking legislation is fully paid-for, cuts through the bureaucratic red tape and establishes common-sense rules that reflect how digital technologies function in the real world. We cannot allow our archaic tax policies to stifle American innovation, and my legislation ensures Americans can participate in the digital economy without inadvertent tax violations.

The One Big Beautiful Bill will raise wages in Wyoming by at least $3,400 over the next four years, but the OBBB does much more than making tax cuts permanent. Energy provisions open Wyoming up for business, freeing lands and enhancing market access to unleash energy production. Tipped and overtime workers saw instant relief as the “No Tax on Tips” provision went into effect, giving the 27% of Wyoming workers who regularly work overtime more take-home pay. The border wall will be funded to completion, and thousands of more Customs and Border Patrol and ICE personnel will be hired to continue securing our communities. We rooted out billions of dollars in waste, fraud, and abuse in Medicaid, implementing commonsense work requirements while creating a $50 billion rural health transformation fund to support rural hospitals. This legislation fulfills President Trump’s promise to put America First. While this bill certainly isn’t perfect, it’s a major step in the right direction that further unlocks Wyoming energy and delivers significant wins for working families across Wyoming. This legislation will transform the lives of families, workers, and small businesses throughout the Cowboy State, and sets our nation back on track for greatness.

My Statement on NEA Shamefully Cutting Ties with the ADL

I find it deeply troubling the National Education Association (NEA) chose to sever ties with the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), an organization dedicated to fighting antisemitism, discrimination, and hate crimes across America. At a time when we’re witnessing alarming rises in antisemitic incidents nationwide, our educational institutions, should be strengthening—not weakening—their partnerships with organizations committed to protecting Jewish Americans and combating hatred. This is the slow evolution of antisemitism, and this is how it grows. The NEA should be reminding educators and students alike that Israel was the victim of an unprovoked terrorist attack by Hamas, and that antisemitism has no place in our educational system. Wyoming Shoutout

Wheatland’s Juan Reyes is the living embodiment of the American dream and is a story of western strength and spirit. Juan fled communist Cuba when he was just a boy, escaping on a refugee flight bound for Florida. After time in a refugee camp, he ended up in Washington state, and after visiting Wyoming during his college years, Juan fell in love with the open spaces and solitude that Wyoming offered. Years later, Juan and his family are still in Wyoming running MR Angus Ranch in Wheatland, where they produce purebred Angus bulls. Juan is now a newly inducted Wyoming Ag Hall-of-Fame Rancher. Congratulations to Juan on your new induction and being a living representation of not just the Wyoming Dream, but the American dream.
