Mark officially has an opponent! Virginia Republicans held their primary tonight and chose the candidate who’ll challenge Mark in November. The Republican Party of Virginia has a track record of picking extreme conservatives who are out of step with Virginians — Mark’s new opponent, Daniel Gade, is more of the same.

In 2014, the GOP came within one percentage point of defeating Mark, and they don’t want to lose again. Even with a hardcore pro-Trump nominee like Gade, we already know that this race could be very close. This year they’ll pull out all the stops to win Mark’s seat, take back the Senate, and re-elect Donald Trump.
