John,
At the beginning of July, I authored a bipartisan letter to the Department of Defense urging the Trump Administration to restart stalled ammunition shipments to Ukraine, and I have yet to receive a response.
Days later, Trump admitted to the press he had no idea that his own administration had paused weapons shipments to Ukraine.
While Ukraine is fighting for its survival against a brutal Russian invasion, the President of the United States is either clueless about his own policies or lying about abandoning a key ally.
Enough is enough. We cannot play political games with Ukrainian lives.
Fifty-four of my colleagues — Democrats and Republicans — signed onto my letter, because we agree: The fastest way to end this war is to increase pressure on Putin and continue our support for Ukraine’s fight for freedom.
I promised to lead this fight, and I am. But demanding answers from Trump — again — puts an even bigger target on my back.
He and his allies have never forgiven me for helping expose his abuse of power nearly six years ago. And now, with this new pressure on Ukraine aid, I know they’ll come after me harder than ever.
I refuse to let this country abandon Ukraine. I won’t back down from defending democracy — here or abroad.

Ukraine deserves better. Our country deserves better. And I will never stop defending both.
