** 1. NC VALUES: ā€œBig Winā€ for Pro-Life Laws
------------------------------------------------------------

On Tuesday, July 15, 2025, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit Court upheld a West Virginia law prohibiting all abortions, including drug-induced abortions using the abortion drug, mifepristone. The case began when GenBioPro, the manufacturer of the generic form of mifepristone, the abortion drug, sued the State claiming that FDA regulations allowing the dispensing of mifepristone supersede the West Virginia law. The court found otherwise. Consistent with the Dobbs decision, the court upheld the right of the states to regulate abortion and protect the health and safety of its citizenry. The federal government’s authority to regulate a drug where it can be legally dispensed does not supersede that state authority.

This case is a major victory for the pro-life movement.

** 2. WPTF: Gov. Josh Stein Has Vetoed HB805—A Bill That Would Have Affirmed the Reality of Biological Sex in North Carolina Law

** 3. CAROLINA JOURNAL: OP-ED: Gov. Stein's Parents' Rights Contradiction
------------------------------------------------------------

"It’s said that the law of non-contradiction is the foundation of rational thought. The principle is so simple my 4-year-old can understand it: Something cannot be both true and false at the same time.

Recently, Gov. Josh Stein contradicted himself on the topic of parental rights. On July 3, the governor signed into law SB 442, a bill that prevents parents from being charged with abuse simply for seeking to raise their children consistent with their biological sex. On the same day, he vetoed another bill aimed at defending parents’ rights, HB 805, calling it 'mean-spirited.'"

** 4. CAROLINA JOURNAL: North Carolina Ranks 1st in the Nation for Business
------------------------------------------------------------

"North Carolina has regained the top position from CNBC as ā€˜America’s Top State for Business in 2025’.

The annual ranking evaluates all 50 states across 135 metrics in 10 key categories of competitiveness, including economy, business friendliness, workforce, infrastructure, and more.

The Tar Heel State has been a top performer in the annual survey in recent years, claiming the number one spot in 2022 and 2023, and finishing second in 2021 and 2024, behind Virginia.

The survey highlights North Carolina’s strengths in business friendliness (4), workforce (4), and overall economic performance (3), while pointing to the cost of living (23), quality of life (29), and cost of doing business (21) as key weaknesses."

** 5. NC VALUES: Calling All Pastors: Veto Override & Pastor Luncheons
------------------------------------------------------------

As you know, HB 805 protects women and children by defining biological sex in law, safeguarding girls on school trips, blocking taxpayer-funded gender transitions, empowering parents in schools, and ensuring justice for victims of harmful gender procedures.

Now, with the Governor’s veto in hand, we’re working to secure a veto override—and we need your help.

** Weekly Prayer: Family
------------------------------------------------------------

LORD, we cry out to you as Father. You are a model of the love, mercy, and authority of the perfect parent. We thank you for modeling for us what every parent should strive for, and for creating this wonderful institution called family.

LORD, we thank you for creating us with a basic nature designed to not be alone. You made us to desire the intimacy of relationships, and it is here where we experience joys indescribable: the joys of marriage, the joys of having children; the joys of seeing our children have children. What a blessing and mercy you gave us in the family! In it we find our first teachers, our first guardians, and our first authorities.

LORD, we recognize how deeply you love your children, and how deeply it pains you when they go astray. Alongside our adoration and thanksgiving, we pray in confession—as individuals and as members of larger communities—over any sins we may have committed that undermine your beloved institution. Forgive us when we endanger your institution through selfishness and arrogance. Forgive our communities and nation for attempting to redefine some of the most basic and deepest parts of being human—being made male and female, having lifelong marriage vows and responsibilities, and having parental rights over educating one’s children.

ā€œPut on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, 13 bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. 14 And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.ā€ (Colossians 3:12-17)

Amen

Sincerely,

Tami & Team
