ClearPath Action Rundown July 18th, 2025
|
Congratulations to David LaCerte on his
nomination as a Commissioner at the Federal Energy Regulatory
Commission. |
1. CCLP is helping to
power your energy career |
The
ClearPath Conservative Leadership Program
(CCLP) hosted its
second annual professional development event, gathering future clean
energy leaders for “Powering Your Energy Career: Connections and
Conversations for Emerging Energy Professionals in
Washington.”
Highlights included:
- A
fireside chat with Rep. Juan Ciscomani (R-AZ);
- An
interactive workshop with a mock Congressional hearing;
- Exercises to help young professionals make a great first
impression; and
- A panel
discussion with three energy professionals on their respective career
paths.
|
Rep. Juan Ciscomani and
ClearPath advisor Kristen Soltis Anderson discussed the importance of
finding “win-win” policy solutions. |
What’s clear: “Conservatives have a way to protect the environment. They see
the benefits, like job creation and manufacturing for clean energy.
That’s a big value.” said Rep. Ciscomani.

2. NEW blog: The Future
of Industry: Made in America |
America can lead the global market
in clean materials, like steel and concrete, and carbon management
technologies. Read our newest
blog by Savita
Bowman with a strategy to achieve this, including:
- How
history offers a roadmap— and a warning;
- What it
takes for innovation at home, not abroad;
- The
stakes for American energy and industry to meet demand;
and
- Why
building here can lead to winning everywhere.
What’s clear:
Leveraging our research and development (R&D) investments with
smart, strategic bets in demonstration and commercialization work is
key to ensuring the future of industry is made in America.
|
3. Bipartisan permitting transparency bill
introduced
|
America’s energy permitting process
is clunky and outdated. Reps. Dusty Johnson (R-SD) and Scott Peters
(D-CA) introduced the bipartisan ePermit Act to increase transparency and digitize data
for U.S. permitting projects. This will provide needed accountability
for developers waiting for federal permits, including National
Environmental Policy Act reviews.
What’s clear: "Our outdated permitting process is
incapable of meeting the challenge of rising demand,"
said Jeremy Harrell, CEO, ClearPath Action. "This bipartisan bill will ensure federal
agencies leverage technology to speed up environmental reviews. It's a
critical piece of the broader permitting reform necessary to let
America build."

4. Google strikes hydro
deal with Brookfield |
Google announced plans to
buy
up to 3 GW of hydropower from Brookfield Renewable Energy Partners.
This project:
- Includes
$3 billion in contracts for power from Brookfield's Holtwood and Safe
Harbor dams in Pennsylvania;
- Would
provide 24/7 carbon-free power;
- Support
expansions, upgrades, and relicensing of existing facilities;
and
- Will
power the increasingly large energy needs of data centers to power
their AI.
What’s clear: This
deal demonstrates the private sector demand for carbon-free energy
production, as companies like Meta, Amazon and Microsoft continue to
scale their energy needs rapidly while balancing emissions reduction
goals.

5. Louisiana start-up
enables CO2 transportation and sequestration |
CO2 utilization received a
significant boost with the help of American innovation. CF Industries,
a manufacturer and distributor of agricultural fertilizers,
announced the start-up of the carbon dioxide
(CO2) dehydration and compression facility,
essential for preparing CO2 for efficient
transportation and storage, at its Donaldsonville Complex in
Louisiana.
The facility will:
-
Enable the transportation and
permanent geological sequestration of up to 2 million metric tons of
CO2 annually;
- Produce
approximately 1.9 million tons of low-carbon ammonia on an annual
basis; and
-
Partner with ExxonMobil to transport
through CO2 pipelines and permanently store the
CO2.
CF Industries expects to qualify
for the 45Q tax credit, which provides a credit for the capture and
storage of CO2.
