Dear John,
I spent last week traveling throughout our community and talking with neighbors who are rightly concerned about the cuts to Medicaid and food assistance that Congressional Republicans recently passed and President Trump signed into law.
I want to be clear: this bill was one of the worst pieces of legislation I’ve ever voted on in Congress.
According to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, President Trump’s so-called "One Big Beautiful Bill Act" will cause 17 million Americans to lose their health care, strip food assistance from millions more, and increase the national debt by over three trillion dollars.
We should be focused on lowering costs and supporting working families—not handing out new tax breaks to the ultra-wealthy who are already doing just fine.
I also want to invite you to my upcoming Telephone Town Hall on Monday, July 21st at 6:00 PM Pacific Time.
I’ll share what this new law means for the future of Sacramento County, respond to recent actions taken by the Trump Administration, and answer your questions about the issues that matter most to you.
