FROM ORGANIZING RESILIENCE:
Here’s what the Organizing Resilience team has been doing in Texas and how you can lean in to support.
- Our partners at the United Survivors Disaster Relief have been on the ground in Central Texas delivering supplies. They are now focused on supporting the first responder volunteers to provide essential training and trauma support to volunteers stepping into a first responder role often for the first time.
- We’re coordinating closely with community organizers from Texas Organizing Project and more as they conduct wellness checks to hundreds of residents who are grappling with loss, making plans to reclaim lost property, and bracing for additional storms heading their way.
- We’re working with Texas RioGrande Legal Aid to ensure year-round residents who have lost trailers and mobile housing have support to navigate the complexity of the federal disaster aid system.
Life will never be the same again for people who have lived through this tragedy. But what we can do is ease their recovery, treat them with dignity and respect, and provide long-term paths for engagement.
