- The North Carolina Board of Elections, now controlled by the GOP, launched ([link removed] ) a new effort requiring over 100,000 voters to provide additional ID information or risk disenfranchisement.
Criminal prosecutors want Rhode Island to hand over voter information
- Criminal prosecutors at the Justice Department are asking ([link removed] ) Rhode Island to hand over sensitive voter roll information to help with the Trump administration’s hunt for voter fraud, according to an email obtained by Democracy Docket.
- Separately, a group of Democratic senators wrote ([link removed] ) to the head of DOJ’s Civil Rights division, citing reporting ([link removed] ) by Democracy Docket and others, and charging that the department is pursuing “an anti-voter, partisan agenda aligned with 2020 election deniers and conspiracy theorists.”
Republicans advance election denier, Trump lawyer judicial nominees
- Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee advanced ([link removed] ) the nomination of former Trump attorney Emil Bove to a lifetime judgeship on the prestigious 3rd Circuit. Bove’s nomination now goes to the full Senate for a final vote.
- The committee also unanimously advanced ([link removed] ) former Fox News host and election denier Jeanine Pirro’s nomination as U.S. Attorney for D.C. to the Senate floor after Democrats walked out in protest of Bove’s nomination.

Florida Supreme Court greenlights DeSantis’ congressional map
- The Florida Supreme Court upheld ([link removed] ) a congressional map drafted by Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) — even as it acknowledged that the map weakens Black electoral power in the state.
- Plaintiffs may still file a motion for rehearing, but unless it is granted DeSantis’ map will remain in place for the 2026 election and beyond.
