We know that the COVID-19 crisis has impacted everyone and that this is a very difficult time. We’re grateful to have you on Team Murphy but understand if you’d like to opt out of fundraising messages for the time being. We’ll still reach out with other important campaign updates.
Friends,
June is Immigrant Heritage Month. It’s a time for all of us to appreciate how the United States was built by immigrants from across the world who shared a common belief that all people deserve to be free and to have an equal opportunity to succeed in life.
And for many of us, it’s also a time to reflect on our own family’s experiences as immigrants in the United States. When I was just six months, old my parents fled Vietnam in search of a better life for me and my brother. They were rescued at sea by the U.S. Navy and spent the next decades working tirelessly to build good lives and even send me and my brother to college -- the first in our family to ever go.
Now as a member of Congress, I’m honored to help the United States continue to live up to its promise as the land of opportunity. I’m working to end harmful immigration policies, to improve our visa system, and to protect our Dreamers -- which is why I am proud to be one of the original sponsors of the DREAM Act.
Of course, there are those who would like to dismiss the United States’ promise to welcome immigrants who are “yearning to breathe free.” The Trump administration has been fighting to end immigration and continues to use divisive rhetoric that doesn't reflect our fundamental American values. And now the GOP is spending huge money to replace me in Congress so that they can roll back all the progress I’ve made. They know that as long as I’m in Washington I will NEVER stop working to make sure the United States lives up to its highest ideals.
If you’re able, will you chip in to help me fight back against Republicans who are trying to replace me in Congress, so we can keep the United States moving forward?
Thank you and be well.
Stephanie
