Right now, Donald Trump is holding BILLIONS of dollars in education funding hostage, just weeks before schools are set to reopen for the Fall semester.

Hours before the grant money — integral for after-school activities, teacher training, and programs for students learning English — was scheduled to disburse to school districts across the country, Trump’s Department of Education froze the payments without giving ANY prior notice.

Now, school districts in Oregon and across the country might be forced to reduce hours, shut down student programs, or even cut faculty and staff if Trump refuses to release the funds before their budget plans need to be finalized.

But these funds were previously approved by Congress — the President does not hold the power to unilaterally freeze these grants without Congressional approval.
