Dear friend, it’s your Congresswoman, Gwen Moore, giving you an update on what I’ve been working on ⤵
The "Big Beautiful Bill"

At a Ways and Means Committee hearing, I got to speak with Treasury Secretary Bessent on the Republicans’ so-called "big, beautiful bill." I reiterated that Republicans made their tax cuts to wealthy and big corporations permanent and created tax benefits for everyday Americans, like no tax on tips, are temporary. He struggled to give an explanation when I raised this point with him!

Championing the Port of Milwaukee
I will always support the Port of Milwaukee’s growth and success. I was thrilled to join the Mayor, County Executive, and Port Director in celebrating an USTR decision that will ensure the Port remains competitive.
This is a real win for Milwaukee and our local economy!
Juneteenth Celebrations

Milwaukee is home to one of the oldest Juneteenth celebrations in the North, our city has been celebrating since 1972! As always, I had a great time with my constituents at the Juneteenth parade!
Foster Youth Shadow Day

I so enjoy participating in Foster Youth Shadow Day, and it is especially meaningful to see resilient foster youth coming to Capitol Hill to advocate for a better child welfare system. So often, we see the other side of the system and its issues, but it meant so much to see these amazing advocates in the halls of Congress.
Protecting U and T Visa Applicants

I led a letter to DHS Secretary Noem and ICE Director Todd Lyons, raising the importance of protecting T and U visa applicants from immigration enforcement and how these visas help law enforcement fight crime and protect victims. This issue has become especially important in Milwaukee given that Yessenia Ruano and Ramon Morales Reyes were T and U visa applicants.
No person should face further punishment for coming forward and reporting a crime which is why we must secure protections for these individuals. Learn more here.
Protecting Years of Research on the MMIP Crisis

After the Department of Justice removed a report documenting years of research on the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Person (MMIP) crisis from its website, I spearheaded a letter with Congresswoman Sharice Davids (KS-03), calling for this report to be restored to the DOJ website.
This data can help drive solutions that address the MMIP crisis, which is why we cannot turn back on this important work.
