From the banners calling for women's suffrage, to the music declaring that “a change is gonna come” in a racially segregated country, to the theater demanding an end to the Vietnam and Iraq Wars — every social movement in American history has used the arts to drive change.
When people can see, hear, and feel a better future, it becomes more real, more possible, and more inevitable.
That’s our dare to you. Today, we dare you to imagine a just future for American Muslims and all people.
In collaboration with the world-renowned Shangri La Museum of Islamic Art, Culture & Design [[link removed]] , Muslim Advocates is launching the American Muslim Futures [[link removed]] exhibit with a call for artists to create the culture of America’s future — its music, paintings, poetry, fashion, and more.
At Muslim Advocates, we litigate, legislate, vote, and organize for that future — and we recognize the critical role that our poets, djs, calligraphers, emcees, playwrights, vocalists, etc. have in showing all of us what we’re working towards.
Will you help us find these visionary cultural producers by forwarding this email to your networks?
We’re looking for hundreds of submissions from diverse Muslim and allied artists in all mediums. We’ve appointed an incredible panel to help us select works for an official digital exhibition that will open later this year. Each selected artist will receive $600.
