SIGN THE PETITION: The Senate just passed Trump’s plan to gut PBS and NPR – now we must stop it in the House. Demand they reject this scheme before tomorrow’s deadline >>
John, the Senate just gave Trump the green light to slash $1.1 billion from PBS and NPR – and now we have one day to stop it in the House. [1]
It’s an all-out war on independent journalism. Trump and his cronies are rushing to dismantle trusted news sources before the public can fight back – clearing the way for Trump’s propaganda and disinformation to run rampant.
PBS [2] and NPR [3] are two of the most trusted sources of news in America because they provide free, local, fact-based news and programming without corporate or partisan interference. [4]
Just look at the recent flooding in Texas, where local public radio provided critical updates for communities that had no other reliable local coverage. [5] And yet, Trump and his allies are trying to pull the plug – with no regard for the Americans who depend on public media every single day.
We can’t let them get away with this. Will you urge the House to REJECT these cuts and protect public media from Trump’s attacks?
Right now, as mainstream networks soften their coverage, settle lawsuits with Trump, and tiptoe around the truth to stay on his good side, PBS and NPR remain among the last platforms committed to fearless, independent reporting.
For decades, PBS and NPR have delivered trusted journalism and vital programming to nearly every corner of the country – reaching millions of Americans in cities, suburbs, and rural towns alike. [6]
This commitment to truth is exactly why Trump wants them gone. He knows an informed public is his greatest threat.
We need PBS and NPR now more than ever – to hold the powerful accountable, speak truth without fear, and prioritize the facts over politics and profit.
If you agree, join us to urge the House to REJECT these reckless cuts and protect public media from Trump’s attacks >>
Thanks for all you do,
The team at Common Cause
