A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed the arrest of 20-year-old Brycson Gaddis, adding that a second suspect was arrested on unrelated charges. No other details were immediately provided. Police and family identified the boy as Elyjiah Hearn. "You're always in my heart. I love you. You're never going to leave me," Troy Hearn, the boy's grandfather, said about Elyjiah. "He's with his grandmother now, so I know the Lord has him. I don't know what to do right now. I'm so numb, I'm distraught." Police said Gaddis is the boyfriend of the boy's mother, however, Hearn said he is an ex-boyfriend. Hearn said they had a violent relationship. "I know he did it ... And I'm just sorry I didn't do anything before," Hearn said. Gaddis is not the biological father of the victim, police said. He was being held on $2 million bail, according to Los Angeles County jail records. ABC 7 Man suspected in Encino double murder had unrelated charges dismissed Court records show the man arrested on suspicion of murdering "American Idol" music supervisor Robin Kaye and her husband Thomas Deluca inside the couple's home in Encino was jailed last year on suspicion of threat, weapons, and battery charges. In December, a judge dismissed the cases against 22-year-old Raymond Boodarian after a mental health evaluation was completed, and the court records indicated he was placed in a conservatorship, which puts another adult in charge of major decisions in a person's life if they've been diagnosed with a severe mental disorder. The nature of the evaluation's findings are not public, and the court records indicated Boodarian was released from jail. The LAPD said Boodarian was arrested in the murder case Tuesday along Vanowen St., a few miles from the home where Kaye and Deluca were shot to death. The LA County District Attorney's Office did not respond to questions about how the court's mental health findings in Boodarian's 2024 cases might affect its ability to prosecute the new murder case, but said evidence will be evaluated ahead of Boodarian's initial appearance in court, set for Thursday. Homicide detectives confirmed Tuesday they believe Kaye and Deluca were shot to death July 10, around the time a neighbor called 9-1-1 to report she had seen a man scale the wall that surrounds the home. The victims were two 17-year-old boys and a 16-year-old boy, LAPD Officer Tony Im told City News Service. They were taken to a hospital in stable condition by Los Angeles Fire Department personnel. Earlier Wednesday night, police described one victim as a 25-year-old man and a second victim as a 20-year-old man. There was also a third victim who police had little information about. Im said witnesses told police a suspect approached the victims and shot at them several times before fleeing in an unknown direction. It was unclear what motivated the shooting, and there was no description of a suspect. MyNewsLA Police seize firetruck in posh L.A. neighborhood in case with bizarre twist Police and federal agents raided a Brentwood home Wednesday afternoon and seized, among other evidence, a firetruck that may be tied to a Chino Hills man who was arrested nearly two years ago for impersonating a law enforcement officer and creating a fictional fire department. The Los Angeles Police Department’s Major Crimes Division confirmed to KTLA that they, along with assistance from the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, executed a search warrant at a Brentwood home in the 100 block of South Rockingham. Officials would only say that a person at the residence was arrested on charges related to firearms violations, government fraud and impersonating a first responder. One of the items taken from the Brentwood home and impounded at a Wilmington tow yard was a fire truck registered to the Santa Muerte Fire Department. The Santa Muerte Fire Department and law enforcement arson investigative unit, which does not actually exist, despite a website claiming it does, came up in a July 2023 investigation in San Bernardino County. According to court documents, Quadri is a Nigerian citizen who acquired permanent residency in the U.S. through what he described as a “fake wedding” in messages sent to a woman who was not his wife. While Quadri was living in the San Gabriel Valley from 2021 to 2024, he claimed COVID unemployment and disability insurance benefits by submitting more than 100 fraudulent applications using stolen identities. The applications were submitted in both California and Nevada, prosecutors said. Through this scheme, he collected over $1.3 million. Officers believed Criss had a drug overdose after they attempted to wake him up, police said, which prompted a “forced entry.”Police said Criss woke up and resisted officers, which led to him reversing his SUV and striking a cruiser. Police said he then put the car in drive, struck another cruiser and drove off. “Put it in park,” a Berlin police officer is heard saying before Criss reverses the Jeep while the driver’s door is wide open with a broken window from the “forced entry.” The video captures Criss as he sped through an intersection before the video ends.
