Hi team, my name is Morgan Hine, and I am the National Training Director at the Democratic National Committee. I was raised in the great state of Idaho and started my political career as an organizer. I fell in love with working with volunteers who dedicated hours of their time to keep public schools and community libraries open in our state, and to keep extremists out of the legislature.

Through years at the Idaho Democratic Party, I launched the first-ever year-round candidate training program, where I trained local leaders to run for office across the state. In 2023, I chose to continue this work at the national level at the DNC as the Deputy Training Director, with the goal in mind of ensuring that candidates and campaign staff in all 57 states and territories had the resources and opportunities to help them succeed.

I wanted to send you a quick introduction today to share a little bit about what the training program is here at the DNC, and why it’s so important.

As the head of the National Training Department, my job is to build our programming, identify gaps in the Democratic ecosystem and how to address and collaborate to fill them, plan and execute training events and programs across the country, and make sure our resources are as accessible and up to date as possible.

The National Training Department is new to the DNC this year and will focus solely on training the next generation of Democratic leaders to become skilled campaign staff, organizers, and candidates. Building a cohort of highly skilled and empowered operatives to manage campaigns, run for public office, and organize their local communities has never been more critical for the future of the Democratic Party.

The goal is for the Training Department to serve as a hub for all training organizations in the Democratic ecosystem, to continue to build long-lasting infrastructure in this space, and to provide the next generation of Democratic leaders the skills they need to succeed so they can innovate and continue the fight for working families and vulnerable communities.

With a new generation of Democrats entering the political space, we need now more than ever to keep innovating our infrastructure and get young folks involved at every opportunity and in every role. That’s why the Training Department’s mission is so important, and why I am so excited about the work ahead of me.
