How we can show up for immigrant commuities

Message from the President

Dear Friends and Supporters,

As we continue our critical work in this evolving landscape, I wanted to share some updates about our newsletter and upcoming projects. Our monthly newsletter will be taking a hiatus while we adapt to the changes this year has brought. During this time, we're focusing our energy on developing powerful new tools and strengthening the resources that serve our movement best.

I am excited to share that we'll soon be launching our Future Over Fear toolkit later this summer—the result of three years of intensive research. This groundbreaking resource will prepare social justice leaders to counter the fear narratives driving support for injustice while promoting sustainable narratives of racial justice. Alongside our existing immigration justice messaging and resources, our VPSA (Value, Problem, Solution, Action) Builder tool will help any social justice leader develop custom messaging for their issue area. This will ensure that our community has what they need to shift narratives toward justice.

Our expertise and resources are here for you, and together we'll keep building the narrative power our movement needs.

With determination and hope,

Traci

Now in Narrative

The Los Angeles protests last month were a powerful example of community solidarity, yet major news broadcasts continually report one-sided messages designed to scare and divide us. As our nation's immigration policies continue to devolve, we must communicate effectively about immigrant justice by leading with shared values and calling out political theater for what it is. From LA to Atlanta and everywhere in between, stand up for immigrant justice

The Price of Perspective

Now more than ever, we must present diverse perspectives to respond to the escalating attacks on immigrant communities. Tariffs on international films are a dangerous threat to that. President Donald Trump frames this as a move to support American jobs and protect national security, but these tariffs aren’t about economics. It’s about who gets to tell the story—and who gets to hear it.

Making global cinema inaccessible is rooted in fear of different perspectives and an attempt to control what the American public gets to hear. Putting financial restrictions on these films punctures holes in our collective empathy, humanity, and cultural memory. At a time when we desperately need to understand one another, global cinema can help us understand the common threads between our stories and prepare us to overcome our shared challenges.
