John,
Five years ago today, we lost a civil rights icon, Rep. John Lewis.
His courage and dedication to the promise of American democracy lives on in our daily actions. As Rep. Lewis famously said:
"Get in good trouble, necessary trouble, and help redeem the soul of America."
Today, our work to save our democracy and the soul of America is more urgent than ever. That’s why we’re partnering with allies across the country for today’s Good Trouble Lives On national day of action―to respond to the attacks on our civil and human rights.
Together, we’re reminding the administration that the power lies with the people, not an authoritarian administration.

Through peaceful, nonviolent actions planned in every state, we’re joining with people of all backgrounds—in the streets, outside of courthouses, and in community spaces across the country.
Together, we’re pushing back against the most brazen rollback of civil rights and democratic protections in generations―the same forces that sought to silence John Lewis when he led civil rights activists over the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama 60 years ago.
