Dear John,
Recently, pro-polluter politicians in Raleigh passed a bill that could raise your energy bill, while gutting our state’s clean energy goals. Governor Stein vetoed that bill, but now it’s back in the hands of the state House and Senate.
Lawmakers will now have to choose whether to side with North Carolinians or greedy Duke Energy and other wealthy polluting corporations. We need to make sure they hear from you.

An independent analysis found that removing our clean energy goal could cost North Carolinians $23 billion more by 2050 . And that’s not even counting the public health risks, extreme weather, and economic instability that come with ignoring the climate crisis.
This bill would do more than just raise costs. It would eliminate North Carolina’s goal to reduce carbon emissions by 70% by 2030 – an essential target for our health, economy, and climate.
Greedy Duke Energy wants you to believe clean energy is expensive, because they make more profit from gas plants. It’s not. Solar and wind are already 50% cheaper than fossil fuels. And batteries make solar and wind dependable.
We deserve affordable, reliable, and clean energy – and your voice can make a real difference. It only takes a minute to speak out.
