Kentucky voters are heading to the polls today and fewer than 200 polling sites are open, down from 3,700 in a typical election year.

You read that right - fewer than 200 polling sites.

And with many voters not receiving requested absentee ballots, that means longer lines, crowded polling places, and putting more people at risk of contracting the coronavirus by going out to vote.

In Jefferson County, the center of the state’s Black population and home to over 600,000+ registered voters, there is only ONE polling site.

John, this is voter suppression pure and simple.

We MUST make sure this scenario is NOT repeated in November.

That’s why we’re pushing emergency calls to Congress! Call now to demand Senators pass the required $4 billion in election funding to ensure safe and secure voting for EVERYONE this November. [[link removed]]

Reports show that we need at least $4 billion in federal funding for states to implement vote-by-mail programs, expand early voting and online and same-day registration, and to ensure the safety of voters and poll workers.

Voting by mail or absentee ensures that voters can participate in our elections without having to venture outside during the pandemic. And expanded early voting will ensure that voters who need to vote in person won’t be faced with long lines and massive crowds.

But right now Republicans in the Senate are delaying a vote on the HEROES Act passed by the House that includes the critical funding to reach the required $4 billion for safe elections.

That’s simply unacceptable.

Chip in to keep pressure on Senators to protect our elections! Last year we successfully pressured Mitch McConnell to include limited funding for election security - but that was BEFORE the pandemic - we need to DEMAND Senators include the full $4 billion required so EVERYONE can make their voice heard this November.
