# [#]Friend,
Today marks five years since the passing of Congressman John Lewis, a civil rights icon who championed the idea of getting in “good trouble” to help redeem the soul of America.
In honor of Rep. Lewis, communities across the country will gather today in the streets, courthouses, and community spaces for Good Trouble Lives On , a national day of action to carry his fight for justice forward.

Under Donald Trump, our nation is facing the biggest rollback of civil rights in generations.
Whether it’s his attacks on voting rights, his disappearances of our neighbors, or his relentless assault on free speech – Trump is trying to keep us divided.
In fact, as I write this email, Trump is conspiring with Greg Abbott and Ken Paxton to gerrymander Texas’s congressional maps and silence the voices of thousands of Texans. That’s why I’m a proud cosponsor of the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, a bill to revitalize the Voting Rights Act and end discrimination in our voting system.

John Lewis’s call for good trouble has never been more urgent. While Trump may try to divide us, we are much stronger when we act together – and it’s going to take all of us to create meaningful change.
In solidarity,
