*Governor DeWine Announces Record Funding Awarded During Latest Round of TechCred*
(COLUMBUS, Ohio)— Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, Lt. Governor Jim Tressel, and Ohio Department of Development Director Lydia Mihalik today announced a new milestone in Ohio’s TechCred program.
During the May application round of TechCred, more than $9.9 million in funding was awarded, representing the highest total amount from any round of the program since it was launched in September 2019. A total of 622 employers were awarded, providing the opportunity for Ohioans to earn 8,362 tech-focused credentials.
“This record-breaking round of TechCred funding reflects our commitment to helping every Ohioan reach their version of the American Dream,” said Governor DeWine. “We’re creating opportunities for people to grow their skills, advance their careers, and strengthen Ohio’s economy.”
“TechCred is a powerful pathway for Ohioans to gain new in-demand skills, earn higher wages, and build long-term careers,” said Lt. Governor Tressel. “Employers benefit from upgraded skills in their workplace, while employees gain the confidence to keep learning and growing.”
TechCred helps businesses address their workforce needs by upskilling current and prospective employees with the credentials needed for a tech-infused economy. Ohioans in any industry can use TechCred to upskill, and businesses of all sizes are eligible for up to $30,000 per round and up to $180,000 per year.
“TechCred is making a real difference in the lives of thousands of hardworking Ohioans,” said Director Mihalik. “We are helping hardworking people take the next step—whether that’s earning a raise, finding a new job, or growing in their careers.”
“Through TechCred, Ohioans are learning the key skills that will help them thrive in today’s tech-infused economy,” said Ohio Department of Higher Education Chancellor Mike Duffey. “This collaboration also provides a huge boost to employers as they look to grow a successfully trained workforce.”
The July TechCred application period for Ohio employers is currently open and will close July 31, 2025, at 3 p.m.
