John, Eight years ago, Attorney General Eric Holder and President Barack Obama founded the National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC) after Republicans seized control of the redistricting process to create an artificial political advantage and gerrymander their way to power. This was just days before Donald Trump was inaugurated in 2017. MAGA Republicans were manipulating voting districts, blocking common-sense gun control measures, failing to curb the impact of climate change, and disenfranchising voters, especially Democrats and people of color. Fighting to defeat the SAVE Act — one of the most dangerous threats to voting rights we’ve seen in a generation. Working year-round to stop partisan and racial gerrymandering in state legislatures. Electing pro-democracy legislators, state supreme court judges, and other state officials across the country. This movement has been fighting for what we believe in every step of the way. As we approach a decade since our inception, our mission has never been more urgent. A second Trump administration and Republican-led Congress means our democracy is facing threats like never before. From trying to steal a state supreme court seat in North Carolina to attempting to tamper with the 2030 Census to undercount the LGBTQ+ community, Native communities, and people of color — the GOP is doing whatever it takes to undermine fair representation and fair elections in America. The good news is, our movement was created for this moment, and we have the power to shape a future of fair maps and fair representation. But the hard work of protecting our freedoms requires all of us chipping in whatever we can, whenever we can. We’re so grateful to have you as part of this movement. The National Democratic Redistricting Committee
