Hi team,

It’s Dan Freeman, the new Litigation Director at the DNC, following up. I’m a former Department of Justice attorney, and I’m joining the DNC to help protect your right to vote.

Here’s how I will fight for you:

I spent almost 15 years at DOJ as a voting rights lawyer. I served as lead attorney for the United States in last-minute voter purge litigation, constitutional challenges to the Voting Rights Act and National Voter Registration Act, statewide redistricting cases, challenges to voter ID laws, and other matters of national importance.

I was a civil servant, and I took pride in enforcing the Voting Rights Act on behalf of the American people because I believe the right to vote — and to have that vote counted — is the threshold of American democracy and preserves all other rights.

But everything changed when President Trump returned to the White House. They forced out brilliant lawyers. Directed us to drop crucial cases. I soon knew that my opportunity to protect democracy within DOJ was over.

So I made the difficult decision to leave DOJ and come to the DNC. Because at the DNC, we believe that voters pick their elected officials, not the other way around. We’re going to court to enforce voting rights laws when states violate them, and we’ll intervene and defend your right to vote when the Republican Party tries to make it harder for you to cast a ballot that will be counted.

That’s why I’m asking you to make a donation to help fund the DNC’s legal work today.

By donating $3 today, you’ll help us make strategic investments in legal work that will have a lasting impact for years to come. You’ll also help us send a message to President Trump and the Republican Party that any attempt to take away your right to vote won’t go unanswered.

Chip in today to help fund the DNC’s legal work and fight for every vote to be counted. Too much is at stake to lose this battle →
