John,
The Endangered Species Act works -- but extinction is forever.
Once a species is gone, it's gone. And right now, Congress is pushing dangerous legislation that would gut the Endangered Species Act (ESA) -- one of the most successful and broadly supported conservation laws in American history.
These proposals would weaken protections for vulnerable species, make it easier to remove them from the endangered list before they’ve fully recovered, and redefine “critical habitat” to benefit industry, not science.
If these attacks succeed, irreplaceable species will vanish. We can’t let that happen. When we lose species, we also lose the ecosystems they help sustain -- along with the clean air, fresh water, food sources, and climate stability that humans rely on every day. A richly diverse planet isn’t a luxury -- it’s a necessity.
Send a direct message to your Members of Congress today and demand they defend the Endangered Species Act -- before it’s too late.
The ESA has worked for over 50 years, saving 99% of the species it protects from extinction. The bald eagle, the grizzly bear, the California condor, the manatee -- all are here today because the ESA stood firm when it mattered most. But if Congress guts its core protections, future success stories may never be written.
The American people understand that. A recent survey shows that over 75% of Americans -- Democrats, Republicans, and Independents alike -- support the ESA and believe species should be protected for as long as necessary. This is not a partisan issue. It’s a moral and scientific imperative, a matter of survival for us, as well as the global web of life.
The ESA represents our commitment to stewardship, environmental justice, and the idea that all life has value. Weakening it now, in the midst of an accelerating biodiversity and climate crisis, would be an unforgivable failure.
Tell Congress to protect the Endangered Species Act and support the future of life on our vast and varied planet.
Thank you for working to save the global biosphere, and speaking up for the species that can’t speak for themselves.
