This past weekend, Rep. Ilhan Omar held a powerful town hall in Nashville
— a city where many said she shouldn’t come. Where hateful tweets and ugly
rhetoric flooded social media in the lead-up to her visit.
They tried to intimidate her. They tried to silence her. They failed.
In a moment when it would’ve been easier to stay quiet or stay home, Ilhan
Omar showed up. She met with Republican Rep. Andy Ogles' constituents,
listened to their concerns, and spoke truth to power — exactly what the
Squad was elected to do — because Andy has been hiding from his
constituents.
This is what resistance looks like: not just in Congress, but in town
halls, on the streets, and in communities across the country. Especially
communities that are being ignored by members of Congress who prioritize
their loyalty to Trump and billionaires over their own constituents. The
Squad is building a movement rooted in grassroots power — no matter how
loud the hate gets.
