John, I’m Sean McCann. I’m a dad, a Democrat, and the son of a teacher. I’ve spent my career serving the greater Kalamazoo area and the people of Michigan — taking on corrupt special interests to fight for regular families who are struggling to make ends meet.

Today, I’m announcing my campaign for Congress to beat right-wing extremist Bill Huizenga and flip one of the most competitive districts in the entire country.

I want to tell you more about who I am and why I’m running for Congress, but if you’re all in on flipping this must-win seat and winning a House majority, I am humbly asking you to become a Founding Donor by splitting a contribution between my campaign and UNITEDemocrats.

John, I was born and raised here in Michigan, a public school kid from modest roots. Now I’m proud to be raising my own kids here in Kalamazoo, and I’ve spent most of my life serving this community, first as a City Commissioner, then as a state representative, and now as a state senator.

To me, leadership is all about solving problems and making life better for the people you serve, which is what I’ve worked to do every day as a public servant — whether it was cracking down on slumlords, leading disaster relief with the Red Cross, or delivering tax relief to Michigan’s seniors and working families.

Fundamentally, John, being a good leader means living your values. And the reason I’m running for Congress is that Washington has never seemed more out of touch with the values I’ve spent my life fighting for than it does right now.

Instead of working to make health care more affordable, my opponent Bill Huizenga just voted to take health care access away from over 450,000 Michiganians.

Instead of cutting taxes for families who are struggling to make ends meet, my opponent just voted to raise all our energy prices — and give billionaires a giant tax break instead.

Instead of responsibly managing our budget, something I’ve overseen at the city and state levels throughout my time in public service, my opponent just voted to add over $3 trillion to our national debt and increase costs on all of us.

Put simply, John, the people of Michigan deserve better leadership. We deserve leaders who are serious about solving problems — and who will fight tirelessly not for special interests, but for the hardworking families across Michigan and across the nation who are struggling to make ends meet.

That’s the kind of leader I promise to be for our community in Congress, John. But to get there, I need your help to flip this seat, defeat Bill Huizenga, and retake the House of Representatives.
