John, I’m Dr. Jasmeet Bains — a family and addiction doctor, daughter of immigrants, and the first Sikh American elected to the California Legislature. Today, I’m officially launching my campaign for Congress in California’s 22nd district.

Why? Because our representative, Republican David Valadao, just cast a vote to rip away healthcare that covers 68% of the people in my district — the largest Medicaid cut in U.S. history. All to give tax breaks to billionaires.

This vote should end his political career, but only if we do something about it.

So I’m stepping up to run — because I’ve seen how much my community relies on lifesaving, accessible healthcare. Valadao sold us out, and now it’s time to vote him out.

This district is WINNABLE — but only if we come out strong from Day One. And that starts right now. Will you make a split donation between our campaign and the Voter Protection Project? [link removed]

In the clinic I see patients every weekend, Medicaid isn’t a talking point — it’s a lifeline; it’s the difference between families getting the care they need or going without.

Valadao’s vote to slash Medicaid and strip coverage for families puts all of our communities at risk — and I won’t stand by while our families pay the price.

I treat patients in the same neighborhoods that raised me — parents battling diabetes, children with asthma, and veterans facing PTSD, depression and fentanyl overdoses in our community. During the wildfires that devastated LA, I volunteered to provide medical services to injured first responders. When COVID struck, I helped organize our response across the Central Valley.

As a physician and legislator, I’ve seen the consequences of political decisions in real time, and I’ve fought to deliver real results here at home: expanding rural healthcare access, cutting costs for working families, and tackling the fentanyl epidemic.

We need leaders who understand what’s at stake — not just in hearings, but in hospital halls and community clinics.

This isn’t about politics — it’s personal. It’s about protecting care, expanding opportunity, and standing up for families who too often get overlooked.

So I’m asking: will you chip in $10 or whatever you can to help flip this seat and send a doctor to Congress who’ll never sell out our communities? » [link removed]

Let’s win this — for our health, for our community, and for every family still waiting to be heard.
