John,
In this email, I'm going to ask you to chip in $3 to support my campaign to be California’s next governor. Just like the summer, our race is heating up, so let me explain why your support is so urgent.
It might seem far away, but as you read this, we are less than 7,000 hours until ballots are mailed out for our primary election. In such a competitive field, we have to make every last hour count.
For us, this means spending the extra days to have community conversations and meet with local leaders to understand what people are concerned about.
Running a campaign, especially in a state as diverse and all-encompassing as California, requires resources. In fact, the last winning gubernatorial campaign spent $24.2 million.
I’m never going to waste your money like some other campaigns, but this will be one of the most expensive races in history, and it’s so important we have the resources we need to deliver on our mission: reaching voters where they are to make sure things start adding up again for Californians.
And that’s why I’m asking you today:
As we start the home stretch of this race, please donate $3, or whatever amount you can, to power our movement as of our campaign for a stronger, healthier state for all Californians.

California’s future is in our hands. It’s going to take all of us coming together to make California add up for us again.
More soon,
Betty
