She came armed with facts – and she didn’t hold back.
She called out plans to slash NOAA and National Weather Service funding by nearly $2 billion, even as historic flooding devastates communities in Texas and around the country.
She insisted that America needs a once-in-a-generation investment in forecasting technology to make sure we have hours of warning before tornadoes, hurricanes, and wildfires.
She exposed the real cost of the tariffs – lost jobs, skyrocketing prices, and a devastating 20% drop in port trade activity in Washington state. And it’s gonna get a lot worse unless Trump is forced to stop attacking our allies and end his senseless trade wars. “We are in an endless summer of trade war, tariffs, and chaos…Small businesses can’t absorb this. They’re laying off workers. They’re raising costs. And we haven’t even seen the full impact yet.” Senator Cantwell laid out a bold vision for what we can do if we choose to lead with science and facts – and she reminded the nation why competent government matters.
