This is a huge step forward for public safety.

Friend,

We recently passed a bill here in Illinois that’s going to save lives.

For too long, local law enforcement agencies in Illinois haven’t had consistent access to the tools they need to trace illegal guns and stop gun trafficking.

That’s why I sponsored and championed legislation in the Illinois legislature to require every law enforcement agency in the state to use the ATF’s firearm tracing platform. Now, that bill is headed to the Governor’s desk.

This is a major step forward in our fight to reduce gun violence. By mandating the use of this national tracing system, we’re giving police the ability to track where unlawfully possessed and used guns come from, identify trafficking networks, and bring violent offenders to justice.

This work is personal to me, both as Attorney General and as a father who wants every community and child in Illinois to be safe. I’ve made it a priority to crack down on gun trafficking, prosecute illegal gun dealers, and strengthen our laws to keep dangerous weapons out of the wrong hands.

And with your help, we can keep building on this progress. If you’re with me, will you support my work by contributing to our campaign today?

I know that gun violence doesn’t have one solution. It’s a complex crisis that demands coordination across jurisdictions, partnerships with local and federal law enforcement, and the political will to take meaningful action — even when it’s hard. With your support, I will continue to do just that.

Thank you,

Kwame
