Hi Friend,
It’s Chessa Latifi, Deputy Director, Emergency Preparedness & Response for Project HOPE. Los Angeles is my home, and I've been on the ground with the Project HOPE team since the Palisades and Eaton wildfires devastated local communities. I can tell you firsthand: the road to recovery is long.
Families who lost everything are still rebuilding. First responders, teachers, and caregivers are carrying immense emotional burdens. And children — some of whom no longer have a home to return to — are struggling to process the trauma of what they’ve endured.
Our teams on the scene know that the ripple effects of a disaster like the historic LA wildfires extend far beyond the fires themselves and have lasting physical, economic, social, and psychological impacts on the affected communities. That’s why we’re prepared to stay for as long as it takes to ensure Los Angeles can recover. To help support our work to deliver urgent relief with lasting impact where it’s needed most, we set a $50,000 fundraising goal. Will you make a donation to support our work in Los Angeles, while also powering our efforts to deliver HOPE to communities around the world?

At Project HOPE, we’ve reached over 17,000 fire-affected community members with the care and support they need to recover — distributing nearly 3,000 hygiene kits, 1,600 air purifiers and 500 psychological support kits to impacted children and their families. We’ve also held many community-based mental health support sessions, reaching those who need it the most, including youth and the elderly.
Our work has touched many children, caregivers, and frontline workers bearing the brunt of this disaster — and it’s all because of supporters like you filling the gaps where help is needed most.
I’ve seen the devastation up close — and I’ve spoken with families who don’t know how they’ll make it through the next month, let alone rebuild their lives. The truth is there’s still so much more to do. Recovery isn’t linear, and for many, the hardest part has only just begun. That’s why your support is so urgently needed.
Friend, will you please join in with a donation today so we can continue to serve families in Los Angeles, as well as remain ready for the next natural disaster?
