I want to pause for a minute to talk about the headlines lately: assaults on vulnerable people’s rights, theft from critical programs for the poor to line the pockets of the 1% via tax cuts (when is enough enough?), violent deportation raids by masked men, and constant disinformation from the leader of our government.

It feels like a repetition of the worst parts of human history. It’s overwhelming.

If you’re already thinking, “How do I fight back?” — here’s one way: donate $25 or whatever you can to support Mad in her fight against this horrific administration.

But when I get down, Mad always reminds me that we’ve dealt with tyrants before. In fact, that’s the origin story for our Declaration of Independence.

That idea has animated the whole team — whether we’re responding to concerns in district or planning a rally or knocking doors to spread the truth about the grotesquely named “Big Beautiful Bill” — we see ourselves as part of a long, uniquely American history of standing up to tyrants. And winning.

But here’s the thing: as Mad’s Director of Field and Finance, I recognize that all of this campaigning costs money. That’s why we are trying to close an important fundraising gap this week — can Mad count on you?
