Dear John,
Gender-based violence is a global issue. In the Eastern European country of Moldova, 73% of women and girls over 15 have reported violence from a partner. Feminist activists are fighting to change that.
In March 2024, our grantee partner the Moldovan National Coalition Life Without Violence organized their largest march ever to advocate for freedom from violence. 500 people took to the streets of Chisinau demanding justice for survivors and stronger protective measures.
The impact was remarkable: 60% of march participants were young people, showing how this movement is energizing a new generation of activists fighting for gender equality.
Through Urgent Action Fund's timely support, the coalition also held a feminist festival where they created spaces for public discussions on gender-based violence and ways to prevent it. It also launched a digital campaign focused on sexual harassment that reached communities across the country.
Your support makes progress like this possible. When grassroots feminist activists have the resources they need, they can create safer and more equitable communities for all.
Help us continue supporting courageous activists and movements like the Moldovan coalition who are not backing down in the face of patriarchal violence and building a more just world with their communities. Donate today.
In solidarity,
Urgent Action Fund for Feminist Activism
