John, it's been one hot summer so far.

As temperatures continue to soar to record-breaking highs, refugee parents around the world are asking themselves the same heart-wrenching question: "How am I going to endure this heat and feed my children?"

It's over 100 degrees in parts of Afghanistan this week—and decades of conflict, a prolonged economic crisis and environmental disasters have left more than one in three Afghans food insecure.

In Nigeria, over 600,000 children under five are at immediate risk of severe acute malnutrition—the deadliest form of malnutrition. In the last few months, one IRC clinic there has seen a nearly triple rise in malnutrition admissions.

In Gaza, more than one million Palestinians are experiencing emergency levels of food insecurity, with growing risks of severe malnutrition and disease due to hunger and poor sanitary conditions.

John, your gift can provide relief by rushing water, medical supplies and other emergency aid to children and families this summer before it's too late. And right now, your donation will go two times as far thanks to a special matching gift offer.

MAKE 2X THE IMPACT»

Malnourished children in crisis zones often face enormous challenges in reaching medical care. Poverty, unsafe travel conditions, conflict or environmental obstacles such as flooding can make hospital visits impossible—especially for children who are already weakened. Compounded by extreme summer heat, the reality becomes more devastating.

That's why the IRC is leading innovation in treating acute malnutrition, ensuring more children receive lifesaving care.

Our simplified approach treats all forms of acute malnutrition with a single food product and point of care. We use a color-coded measuring tape to diagnose malnutrition and a nutritional peanut paste known as ready-to-use therapeutic food (RUTF) to treat children. The IRC also trains community health workers to bring this lifesaving care directly to hard-to-reach communities.

Each year, our malnutrition programs treat over 600,000 children across the world, delivering support where it’s needed most. But recent cuts to humanitarian aid from the United States are putting this critical work at risk. Urgent support is needed to keep these programs operating.

Every act of kindness matters right now—and every gift will make two times the impact. Don't wait: Make your matched contribution right now.
